A Unique Approach & Experience

At our NeuroStructural health center, we offer a pressure free environment, which allows you to make your own informed decisions. We know that when our practice members are in control of their own health choices, they are more likely to stay on track and reach their goals. Ultimately, we want you to have your independence and the confidence to achieve your greatest level of health. We will address the Structural Shifts of your spine and pelvis, tailor a treatment plan specifically for your needs and provide you with the right tools to successfully reach optimal spinal wellness.

While NeuroStructural Correction is important, we understand that health goes beyond the expression of a well-functioning nervous system. In order to maintain optimal health, your body requires adequate nutrition and proper muscle activation or exercise. If your goal is to achieve optimum results, we will provide you with complementary recommendations in these areas to support your corrective care. The recommendations can be simple and allow for immediate implementation.

Dr. Patrick Newman focuses on NeuroStructural Correction for three primary reasons.

1. Scientifically Proven: NeuroStructural protocols are some of the most researched and scientifically proven in the chiropractic community. Science is a systematic approach which organizes information that is testable, objective and reproducible. The more objective the measurements are, the more reproducible the tests become. The more tests that are performed, the more the results solidify. Feel free to ask any one of our team members for research on our technique pertaining to your area to interest.

2. Objective: NeuroStructural Correction utilizes objective diagnostic tools designed to detect and measure Structural Shifts. Objective measurements take all of the guess work out of the analysis and allow for follow up comparisons. This means that you will be able to see the correction and not just rely on the doctor’s expert opinion.

3. Results-Oriented: NeuroStructural Correction provides consistent and reproducible results by utilizing specific corrective adjustments, neurological enhancement and structural traction. By coupling these three crucial elements, our practice members are able to attain accelerated results.

Chiropractic
Traditional Chiropractic & NeuroStructural Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a natural form of health care which addresses the spine and its supporting structures. Traditional chiropractic focuses on intersegmental adhesions, or joints in the spine or pelvis which are “stuck”. Traditional chiropractic utilizes various adjusting techniques to mobilize those joints, which can decrease muscular spasms, increase range of motion and temporarily decrease pain. The majority of chiropractors take this traditional approach and provide “symptom-based” relief care.

NeuroStructural Chiropractors differ greatly from traditional chiropractors by looking for Structural Shifts of the spine and pelvis. These Structural Shifts are frequently the primary reason for multiple restrictions and secondary conditions. Focusing on the structure preemptively helps to reduce the risk of spinal complications. The primary conditions we work with in our office are called Anterior Head Syndrome and Pelvic Displacement Complex. By addressing these Structural Shifts of the body, the foundation becomes stronger, creating lasting results and correction.

The structural foundation of the human body is comprised of the spine and pelvis, which are a lot like the foundation of a house. When the foundation of a house is flawed or imperfect, it is understandable that floor boards will start to come up, cracks will form in the walls, and windows won’t open properly. In this case, some people would think to patch up the walls, put more nails in the floor boards, and put some lubricant on the windows. While this provides a temporary fix, the secondary issues tend to reoccur due to the fact that the primary issue was never addressed. When the primary condition is corrected and the foundation is restored, the house will have fewer secondary issues. This is the difference between Traditional Chiropractic and NeuroStructural Chiropractic. Traditional Chiropractic acts like a patch for the secondary conditions, while NeuroStructural Chiropractic targets the primary condition, getting to the root cause.

Structural Shifts
Structural Shifts & Secondary Conditions

In a structurally sound spine, the head should be situated directly over the spine and shoulders. This positioning keeps the weight of the head over the body’s center of gravity. In most cases, when the head is in this proper position, the spinal bones in the neck will create a proper curve. This curve acts as the primary shock absorber - much like the shocks in your car. The proper curve and head placement allows for even wear on the discs, which act as the cushions for the spine. Anterior Head Syndrome causes secondary conditions due to a loss in the curve of your neck and uneven wear of the discs, leading to excessive strain on the body. Likewise, the pelvis supports the movable spinal bones which make up your spinal column. Structural Shifts that occur in the pelvis are collectively known as, the Pelvic Displacement Complex, and will alter the foundation of your spine. This leads to increased stress on your spinal bones, discs, ligaments and supporting musculature.

The Structural Shifts that occur disrupt the communication between your brain and your body. The spinal cord is comprised of neural tissue, which is an extension of the brain. The brain sends signals to the body, down the spinal cord and spinal nerves that branch off the spinal cord. The Structural Shifts create blockages, limiting the movement of the spinal bones. When the spinal bones become limited or stuck, the surrounding areas undergo an inflammatory response, which constricts the spinal nerves and disrupts their ability to communicate with the rest of the body. This interference affects the muscles, tissues and organs that the nerves provide function to. The same blockage occurs with the information coming from your organs, muscles or tissues which travel back up to the brain via the spinal cord and spinal nerves. This compromises the body’s ability to adapt properly to external and internal stimuli. Furthermore, the body will start to express the secondary conditions to signal that there is a problem. Structure will always determine how something will function or perform.
